Joint FIA, police team survives gun attack during raid in Islamabad
ISLAMABAD: A joint team of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and capital police narrowly escaped a gun attack during a raid at a house in F-6 in search for the foreign currency being hoarded there, police said on Monday.
The police said the joint team of FIA Commercial Bank Circles, along with capital police including crises response team raided the house.
One of the FIA officials knocked the door and asked the people inside the house for the search, they added.
However, some people armed with pistols and Kalashnikovs came out from the rooms and started straight firing at the raiding team, the police said, adding that one of the bullets fired by them hit one of the official of crises response team, but fortunately he remained unhurt as he wore the bulletproof jacket.
Shortly, four to five gunmen were succeeded in escaping from the spot, they said, adding that later the raiding team made an attempt to arrest a gunman who was left in the house.
However, he and some women put up resistance, the police said, adding but later he was arrested and disarmed and a Kalashnikov was recovered from him.
Over the incident a case was registered at Kohsar police station against the armed persons under PPCs 324, 506ii, 186, 148, 149, and 427, they added.
