ALGIERS: No decision can be taken without the effective participation of the Third World, Algerian President Houari Boumedienne said here last night [Sept 9] in a speech closing the fourth non-aligned summit conference. President Boumedienne said that following the Big Power meetings in Peking, Moscow and Washington, and the European Security Conference in Helsinki, the Algiers summit had become particularly necessary to show “decisions cannot be taken without the third world”.
He said the conference had given the world the chance to speak out, and listed disarmament, international trade relations and the forging of new international monetary structures as fields where they must be heard. He praised industrialised nations for the cooperation they had achieved, but said détente should go with “a share-out of benefits between all members of the international community. …” — News agencies
