TAXILA: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Thursday met his legal team led by lawyer Barrister Hamid Ali Khan in the room of Superintendent jail in which they discussed Toshakhana, cipher and other cases.

Talking to newsmen outside Attock jail, Barrister Hamid Ali Khan said that he met Pakistan PTI Chairman Imran Khan for the first time since his arrest on Aug 5 as he was out of the country.

He said in his meeting which lasted for about 45 minutes, he observed that Imran Khan’s morale was high and he was full of energy. He said the PTI chairman expressed his concern over persecution of party workers at the state level and gave a message to them not to lose hope.

Responding to a question, he said the legal team would approach the higher courts against the special court decision rejecting the bail applications of PTI chairman in and vice chairman in the cipher case.

Talking to newsmen, Imran Khan’s lawyer Barrister Umair Niazi said that registration of multiple cases against Imran Khan was aimed at keeping him away from active politics.

He was of the view that victimisation of Imran Khan was unprecedented as no other leader has been subjected to such a persecution in the history of Pakistan.

There are 180 cases lodged against him, with over 140 registered before his arrest, said the counsel. He said the May 9 incident was scripted to crush political opponents. He said: “We urge the government to make all the footage of the arson on May 9 public.

He also conveyed Imran Khan to lawyers’ community asking them to actively participate in the lawyers’ movement.
