ECP to frame charges against PTI leaders in contempt case
ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan has decided to frame charges against PTI Chairman Imran Khan, Asad Umar and Fawad Chaudhry in a contempt case.
According to the commission’s cause list, the body has fixed the case for September 26, with charges to be framed against Mr Khan and Mr Chaudhry for contempt of the ECP and the chief election commissioner. Charges will also be framed against Mr Umar over the contempt of ECP.
Interestingly, the three have been asked to appear in person. The case has witnessed twists and turns ever since its initiation last year by the electoral body against PTI chairman, then secretary general Asad Umar and senior vice president Fawad Chaudhry.
On the same day, the ECP will also resume hearing in a case related to the confiscation of PTI’s ‘prohibited funding’. The case is fixed for submission of a detailed reply to the ECP notice.
