Sikhs gather in Kartarpur for Baba Guru Nanak’s death anniversary

NAROWAL: The three-day rituals to mark Baba Guru Nanak’s 484th death anniversary have commenced at Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur. Sikh pilgrims from all over the world, including Pakistan and India, are participating in the events.

Sardar Anderjeet Singh, a member of the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, told Dawn that 300 to 400 pilgrims will arrive through the Kartarpur corridor every day.

He said that thousands of Sikh pilgrims from across Pakistan and the northern regions will also attend the event. These pilgrims will pay their respects at the Samadhi and grave of Guru Nanak.

Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur Head Gyani Sardar Gobind Singh will perform religious rituals and also offer special prayers for the security of Pakistan.

Sardar Inderjit Singh said that the pilgrims coming to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib from India via the Kartarpur Corridor will arrive in the morning and return in the evening.

He said arrangements had been made for overnight stay for Sikh pilgrims at Gurdwara Darbar Sahib.

Traditional langar and medical services have also been organised. Fool-proof security measures have been implemented and the entry of unrelated people is prohibited, and no one will be allowed to visit Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur without a computerized national identity card and a special pass.
