Nanbais announce hike in roti price on their own
CHARSADDA: The All Bakers Association Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday announced a hike in roti price on its own saying nanbais will sell the bread for Rs25 in all KP districts, including Charsadda, from Sept 25.
It also demanded of authorities to immediately issue a new price list for roti in consultation with nanbais and warned if that didn’t happen, its members would stage a protest outside the Governor’s House.
The announcement was made during a meeting chaired by association provincial president Iqbal Payindakhel.
The meeting was also attended by the association’s presidents and general secretaries from Peshawar, Mardan, Mansehra, Swat, Nowshera, Upper and Lower Dir, Kohat, Hangu, Malakand, Buner, Abbottabad and other districts.
The participants elected Rahim Safi as the chairman of the provincial cabinet and Akhtar Iqbal and Ehsanullah vice-presidents.
The speakers, including Rahim Safi, Mohammad Ejaz, Bashir Butt, Gohar Ali, Attaullah Babu, Sabaz Ali, Faizullah and Kabul Khan demanded of the government to immediately establish the nanbai associations in all districts.
They said the roti price list should be issued in consultation with the government officials.
The speakers demanded a reduction in flour rate for the supply of roti to people at low rates.
They said nanbais suffered from the continuous losses in business and that officials of 20 departments harassed them.
The speakers demanded uniform roti rate in the province and warned if the new price list wasn’t issued immediately, nanbais would protest outside the Governor’s House.
