ATC extends suspects’ remand in journalist’s murder case

SUKKUR: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Monday extended the judicial remand of the suspected persons till Oct 12 and sent them back to jail in the murder case of a newsman.

Presiding over the proceedings of the murder case of journalist Jan Muhammad Mahar, Judge Abdul Rahman Qazi sent the three arrested suspects to jail on a 10-day judicial remand.

The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) police brought the three suspected persons — Bakhshal Mahar, Babar Mahar and Munawar Mahar — under tight security to the ATC in Sukkur.

The judge ordered the police to arrest other nominated persons in the Jan Muhammad Mahar’s murder case and produce them before the court on the next hearing.

Jan Mahar, a journalist of a private Sindhi newspaper and its TV channel, was murdered near Saint Saviour School on Queen’s Road in Sukkur.

Sukkur police conducted raids in different areas and detained three suspected persons who were produced in the ATC on Monday.
