Record number of street crime reported with police

RAWALPINDI: A record number of 102 cases of street crime were registered with the police in which the victims were deprived of 39 motorcycles, five cars, gold jewellery, 58 mobile phones, cash and other valuables.

Of the 39 motorcycles reported stolen on Monday, 22 were taken away from Rawal Division and 12 from Potohar Division while the remaining five were lifted from Saddar Division.

Hifza Masoom complained to the City police that Rs100,000 and gold jewellery worth Rs147,000 were stolen from his mother’s house.

Mehmood Yousuf and his two friends were robbed of Rs100,000 and three cellphones at gunpoint, Danish Naeem complained to the Banni police that two persons entered his house and snatched away four cellphones and Rs35,000 at gunpoint.

Ali Amir was standing outside his house when he was taken at gunpoint by two robbers and robbed of two mobile phones in the Banni police area. Three mobile phones, two laptops and Rs10,000 were snatched from Nabeel Ahmadby three robbers in a market at Satellite Town.

Zia Habib and Mohammad Shabir complained to the police that their cars stolen from Sadiqabad. Mohammad Jamshed’s car was stolen from the Airport police and that of Special Branch Inspector Safdar Hussain from outside his house in Khayaban-i-Tanveer.

Moreover, Aroos Shaian was robbed of cash and a mobile phone by two robbers in New Town. Armed men also snatched gold jewellery worth Rs250,000 from Shamshad Begum in People’s Colony while pickpockets stole gold jewellery worth Rs1m , a mobile phone and Rs10,000 cash from Nasira Bibi in a metro bus in the Civil Lines area.
