PTI moves high court against Lahore DC
LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday approached the Lahore High Court against the Lahore deputy commissioner for not allowing it to hold a public rally at Liberty Chowk.
PTI Lahore President Azeemullah Khan filed a writ petition pleading that the party wanted to announce its election manifesto at a public rally as the general elections in the country were going to be held in a few months.
The petitioner said an application had been filed with the Lahore deputy commissioner seeking permission to hold a public meeting at Liberty roundabout on Oct 15, that was dismissed unlawfully.
He asked the court to order the DC to allow the PTI to hold the rally as it was the party’s legal right. While the application has been received by the deputy commissioner’s office, permission has not yet been granted, it is learnt.
