ATC dismisses bail plea of Yasmin

LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court on Tuesday dismissed a post-arrest bail petition of PTI-Punjab President Dr Yasmin Rashid in Shadman police station attack case for being infructuous.

A prosecutor told the court that Ms Rashid was on fresh physical remand with the police under new offences added in the FIR.

He said the petition in hand was filed under old charges, therefore, the same had become infructuous.

Judge Arshad Javed dismissed the bail petition.

Separately, Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Abher Gul Khan denied the police further physical remand of PTI-Punjab President Dr Yasmin Rashid, Senator Ijaz Chaudhry and former provincial minister Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed in the Shadman police station attack case.

The judge sent the PTI leaders on judicial remand.

The police had secured fresh remand of the suspects for investigation under the new charges added in the FIRs against them. The new charges include waging or attempting to wage a war or abetting in waging of war against Pakistan, abetting mutiny, or attempting to seduce a soldier, sailor or airman from his duty and rioting.

Judge Khan allowed Sarwar Road police to shift three suspects to jail for their identification parade in the Jinnah House attack case.

The police produced Kamran Khan, Zeeshan Hayat and Rizwanullah before the court.

The investigating officer said the suspects had been arrested for their role in the attack. He asked the court to allow shifting of the suspects to jail for their identity parade. The judge sent the suspects to jail on seven-day judicial remand.
