Body recovered from plane’s landing gear

KARACHI, Feb 10: The corpse of a man was recovered from the wheel cavity of a PIA plane after it landed at the Karachi Airport on Friday night.

The DSP Airport, Haseeb Baig, told Dawn that PK 3356 from Jeddah carrying pilgrims landed at the Karachi Airport at 7:30pm. The Air control received a message from the Jeddah Airport that a man was seen near the wheels of the plane at the time of take off who is now unaccounted for.

A body was found when the rear wheel cavity of the plane was searched.

Police were informed about it. They recovered the body and dispatched it to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for post-mortem.

Mr Baig said the man appeared to be a Bengali clad in a vest and pyjamas. “Either he has died of freezing cold during the flight or of suffocation,” he added.
