Balochistan minister assures of law and order for polls

QUETTA: The Balochistan home and tribal affairs minister, retired Capt Zubair Ahmed Jamali, has said the caretaker government is making all out efforts to improve the law and order situation to ensure free, fair and peaceful elections in the province.

“Creating peaceful atmosphere and ensuring transparent election is our prime responsibility and priority,” he said, while talking to reporters on Friday. He said the caretaker government was ready to fulfil its responsibilities for holding the elections.

Mr Jamali added whenever the election commission announces the election date, the provincial government will initiate preparations. “We will ensure protection of the polling stations and voters during elections.”

He said the law and order situation was not ideal, but the government was taking every possible steps for improving it, with the support of security forces who are dedicated to maintaining security and are ready to make sacrifices if necessary.

Mr Jamali affirmed that ens­u­r­ing the protection of people’s lives and property is their top priority, and security forces are closely monitoring the activities of terrorists and outlaws.
