Peshawar to be made loadshedding-free

PESHAWAR: The district administration has decided to make the provincial capital free of power outages in two phases under the loadshedding-free Peshawar campaign.

The decision was made at a meeting chaired by Peshawar division commissioner Mohammad Zubair. The deputy commissioner, Peshawar Electric Supply Company chief and other officials were also in attendance.

The meeting discussed the steps to make the provincial capital free of power outages under the direction of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.

A statement issued here said that the meeting decided to execute the loadshedding-free Peshawar campaign in two phases. The participants agreed to expedite the targeted campaign against electricity theft and non-payment of bills.

The meeting decided to make the Peshawar cantonment free of loadshedding in the first phase of the campaign, and to achieve this objective, authorities would crack down on electricity thieves and defaulters and ensure regular payment of power bills.

The meeting also decided that as soon as the electricity arrears were cleared, the relevant areas’ feeders would be made free of power outages.

After making the cantonment area free of power outages, the campaign would also be launched in the city, and the authorities would attempt to rid the areas of power theft and unpaid bills. Mr Zubair directed the relevant officials to share their recommendations regarding making the provincial capital free of loadshedding with his office within 24 hours.
