Cleanliness drive continues in garrison city

RAWALPINDI: The district administration and Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) cleared garbage from main roads and streets under the ongoing cleanliness campaign.

Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Liaquat Ali Chatha paid a surprise visit to various union councils of the city early in the morning in connection with the cleanliness campaign and made a detailed review of the sanitation situation over there.

He visited Union Councils 17, 19, and 20 to inspect the work and check the presence of workers. On this occasion, Rawalpindi Waste Management Company Chief Executive Officer Sajid Safdar, Director Local Government Sabatin Kazmi, and other officials concerned were also present.

Speaking on the occasion, Liaqat Ali Chatha said that a clean and healthy environment is the basic need for us all, and likewise, it is the duty of all of us to ensure cleanliness. “This campaign will complement anti-smog and anti-dengue activities, which are already in full swing, and strict action will also be taken against garbage burning,” he said.

The commissioner directed the RWMC officials to depute more sanitation workers to union councils during the weekly cleaning. He also directed that the problems of sanitation workers be solved immediately and said that sanitation workers deserve praise and that special attention should be given to their welfare.
