PTI cancels convention after denial of permission

BAJAUR: The district administration has refused to permit the local chapter of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) to arrange a youth convention owing to imposition of Section 144.

PTI leader Rehanzeb Khan through an application submitted to the deputy commissioner’s office on October 26 requested for granting permission for holding of youth convention of party workers on Friday (Nov 3) in Salarzai tehsil.

However, the deputy commissioner rejected the request of PTI leader owing to the current law and order situation in the region and imposition of ban on all kinds of political gatherings owing to enforcement of Section 144 in the district.

A statement issued from the deputy commissioner office stated administration had already imposed ban on gatherings and assemblies in the district. It said that the applicant (Rehanzeb Khan ) was advised to avoid holding youth convention in the limits of Bajaur, otherwise legal action would be taken as per law.

Rehanzeb Khan, who had earlier vowed to hold the planned convention at all costs, on Thursday announced to cancel the gathering.

In a post shared on social media, he said that the convention planned for Friday was postponed in line with administration’s decision of not granting permission to them.
