Over 4,000 take test for admission to Sindh Agriculture University

HYDERABAD: A total of 4,203 candidates appeared in the entry test for admission in the undergraduate degree programme of the Sindh Agriculture Univer-sity (SAU) on Sunday.

The university has offered seats in different disciplines of various faculties at its main campus, sub-campus in Umerkot and affiliated colleges in Dokri and Khairpur Mirs.

Among the candidates, 550 were women seeking admission in the academic session 2023-24 and took the test at four different centres.

In Hyderabad, the test was held at Public School Latifabad where 56 blocks were set up with nine separate blocks for women candidates.

Exam centres were set up in Hyderabad, Sukkur, Dokri, Khairpur Mirs, Quetta and Umerkot

According to an SAU press release, for the first time, test centres had been established in Quetta, Hyderabad, Sukkur and Umerkot. The candidates were accommodated at institutions like Balochistan University of Information, Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (Quetta), Hyderabad Public School (Latifabad), SAU Umerkot sub-campus and Sukkur Public School.

SAU’s five faculties included the Information Technology Centre and Institute of Food Sciences & Technologies, while the affiliated institutions are Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Agricultural College in Dokri and Khairpur College of Agriculture, Engineering and Technology.

SAU Vice Chancellor Dr Fateh Marri visited the Hyderabad centre and expressed his satisfaction over the arrangements made for the test and appreciated candidates for taking interest in the university’s degree programme.

Dr Marri said that apart from agriculture, veterinary, agricultural engineering and information technology, the university was offering various new market-oriented degree programmes for students. Countless job opportunities were available in the public and private sectors for SAU graduates, he added.

Since the previous year, the admission fee for women candidates seeking to study at SAU-affiliated colleges and Umerkot sub-campus had been waived. Scholarships for students were also there, he said.
