Two-day talent hunt contest ends at Cadet College Larkana

LARKANA: Twenty-eight educational institutions took part in the two-day ‘All Pakistan Elite Institutions Talent Contest’, which concluded at the Cadet College Larkana on Saturday.

Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Girls Cadet College, Larkana, principal, Brig Usman Rafique, was the chief guest at the opening session whereas Iqbal Academy Pakistan director Dr Abdul Rauf Rafiqi, a researcher and writer of 53 books, was the chief guest of the concluding session.

The principal advised the cadets and other audience to always remain optimistic as pessimism was bound to lead them to wrong direction.

Dr Rafiqi said that students were leaders of future and, as such, they should work hard in right direction by benefiting from the teachings Allama Iqbal had propagated through his philosophy and poetry.

The programme featured a declamation contest, squash championship and essay competition, besides performances on national songs and tableaux.

The message from Dr Muneeb Iqbal, the grandson of Allama Iqbal, for the event on ‘Iqbal Day’ was screened on the virtual media.

Prizes were given away to the winners of the declamation contest, squash championship and essay writing.

Declamation contest: The first position was secured by cadet Muhammad Asim of the Cadet College Mastung, second by Abdul Rahman of Divisional Public School, Faisalabad, and the third position was shared by cadet Javed Ahmed of Cadet College Petaro and Rida Batool of the IBA Public School, Larkana.

Essay writing: The first position went to cadet Zainab Raza of Bakhtawar Cadet College, second to Muhammad Ramzan of Cadet College Sanghar, and the third position went to cadet Aleeza from Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Girls Cadet College, Larkana.

Squash championship: Tameer-i-Nau Public College, Quetta, student Yasir won the championship and the runner up was cadet Moeen of Cadet College Larkana.

Hifz-i-Iqbal competition: The first prize was awarded to cadet Tayab of Cadet College Larkana, second prize to cadet Kashaf of the Bakhtawar Cadet College, Shaheed Benazirabad, and the third prize to cadet Mohsin of the Cadet College Ghotki.
