Seven colleges get principals after ECP nod

LAHORE: The Punjab Higher Education Department (HED) has recently appointed (Nov 7) principals of seven colleges after the announcement of the date of general election in the country.

According to a notification, Dr Yasmeen Zia was transferred and posted as principal of Government Associate College for Women, Kot Lakhpat, on a regular basis, Dr Fauzia Imran was transferred and posted as principal of Associate College for Women Gulshan-i-Ravi, associate professor Sameena Hameed as principal of Graduate College for Women, Shadbagh, Dr Talat Rehman as principal of Associate College for Women, Raiwind, Muhammad Akram Chaudhry was transferred and posted as principal of Associate College, Raiwind, Dr Shugufta Abbas was transferred and posted as principal of Graduate College (W), Islampura, and Dr Koser Parveen as principal of Graduate College (W), Baghbanpura.

The department also issued transfer and posting orders of more than 250 college teachers.

HED Secretary Sajid Zafar Dall told Dawn that the department had transferred college teachers after due permission from ECP.

SCHOLARSHIPS: The Punjab government announced scholarships for talented and deserving students on Monday.

The candidates, who have passed matriculation and intermediate examinations in 2023 with 60pc marks, will be eligible to apply.

The online application can be submitted to the Punjab Education Endowment Fund by Jan 31, 2024. The orphans and special students will be able to apply for scholarships while the children of government employees from grade 1 to 4 with a salary of less than Rs60,000 will also be eligible.

The students belonging to minorities will be able to apply as the report said under the department of human rights and minority affairs, scholarships will be given to talented students. Moreover, children of civilians martyred in terrorism will be eligible for the scholarships.
