Haripur transit point for illegal migrants de-notified
PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has de-notified the transit point [holding area] for illegal immigrants set up in Haripur district, a notification issued here on Friday said.
The notification said the transit point was being de-notified as majority of the illegal foreigners from Hazara division had been repatriated.
“In pursuance of the decision taken at the 4th meeting of the provincial steering committee on repatriation of illegal foreigners on Nov 17, and keeping in view repatriation of near absolute majority of illegal foreigners from Hazara division, the transit point in Kalabat township of Haripur is hereby de-notified with immediate effect,” the notification said.
It also said the transit pints in Peshawar and Landi Kotal would continue till further orders.
With no repatriation from Gilgit-Baltistan, Punjab, Islamabad and Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, 45 illegal immigrants, including 10 inmates from Peshawar’s central prison, left for Afghanistan from Peshawar’s transit point on Friday.
Officials said the illegal immigrants included 27 from Bannu, one from Haripur and seven from Peshawar.
The officials involved in processing repatriation of illegal immigrants said the repatriation from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa continued on Friday.
