Pakistan, Russia to continue counter-terror cooperation

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Russia have pledged to strengthen bilateral cooperation in key areas to effectively combat terror financing and terrorism.

During the 10th meeting of the ‘Pakistan-Russia Joint Working Group on Combating International Terrorism and Other Challenges to Security,’ both countries discussed global and regional terrorism threats, with a particular focus on situations in Afghanistan, Central and South Asia and North Africa.

The dialogue highlighted the complexity of the terror landscape and the need for continued vigilance, said an official Foreign Office announcement on Friday.

The meeting, co-chaired by Additional Foreign Secretary Syed Haider Shah and Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin, outlined national strategies and measures to combat terrorism. Both countries shared experiences and best practices in the broader fight against terrorism.
