Francesca Albanese, the UN’s Special Rapporteur to the occupied Palestinian territories, has objected to the European Commission president calling the ongoing Israeli actions in Gaza a “humanitarian crisis”.

Responding to Ursula von der Leyen’s post, she said: “This is NOT just a humanitarian crisis. This is a catastrophy of apocalyptic proportions, possibly a genocide implemented through modern means of warfare that the EU must help to bring to a halt.

“Palestinians aren’t disposable. They can’t be put in tents in the Sinai,” the rights expert added, referring to the Egyptian peninsula of Sinai.
