Over 40,000 take MDCAT re-conducted in Sindh

KARACHI: Around 41,000 students on Sunday appeared in the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) conducted simultaneously in Karachi, Hyderabad, Shaheed Benazirabad and Larkana.

The MDCAT was conducted afresh on the directives of the Sindh government by Dow University of Health Sciences.

The male and female students took the exam for 3,600 MBBS and 1,190 BDS seats in the public and private medical and dental institutions across Sindh.

In Karachi, around 15,000 students took the exam held at Expo Centre.

According to a press release, Expo Centre had separate entry points for boys and girls and strict security arrangements were made to deal with any kind of emergency situation.

In Jamshoro, a total of 13,354 (6,215 male and 7,139 female) candidates appeared in test held in the Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences (LUMHS).

Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Ikram Din Ujjan monitored the arrangements and ensured proper vigilance of the test.

LUMHS offers 350 seats for MBBS and 100 seats for BDS whereas 100 seats for male candidates have been reserved for Bilawal Medical College, Jamshoro.

In Nawabshah, the test was held at Bilawal Sports Stadium, where around 4,000 male and female candidates coming from Shaheed Benazirabad, Naushahro Feroze and Sanghar districts took the exam amid strict security arrangements made around and inside the venue.

Even media was not given access into the stadium.

The district administration had imposed Section 144 CrPC in the area.
