‘Lives at risk’ at northern Gaza hospital due to fuel shortage: head doctor

A top medic at Kamal Adwan Hospital in Gaza, has appealed for urgent supplies of fuel for the medical facility, which continues to treat patients, including premature babies.

In an interview with Al Jazeera, Dr Hossam Abu Safiya, head of the paediatric intensive care department said this is the only hospital in northern Gaza that is still receiving patients.

“If the hospital is not supplied with fuel within hours, the department is at risk of losing those in it, including premature babies, under our care,” he said.

Despite the truce, the delivery of fuel to northern Gaza remains restricted by Israeli forces.
