From The Past Pages Of Dawn: 1948: Seventy-five years ago: East, West Pakistan contact

COMILLA: Replying to the public addresses that were rained on him, one after the other, Mr Liaquat Ali Khan, the Pakistan Prime Minister, declared that he would strain every nerve to provide better facilities for stimulating intimate contact between students and people of East and West Pakistan.

The Prime Minister once again reminded the audience of the crises through which Pakistan had to pass and warned the people not to fall into the hands of enemy agents. He assured the people that the Government were not sitting on the fence and every opportunity was being fully utilised to implement development projects and to improve the economic conditions of the people. — Dawn special correspondent.

[Meanwhile, according to news agencies from Hyderabad … [Deccan] armed police today [Nov 27] patrolled … areas of Hyderabad City, which had been affected by the last two days’ sporadic rioting. While no incidents were reported today, a notification … stated that in view of the prevalent tension … the Chief City Magistrate had extended for … three days his orders … banning the assembly of more than five persons and carrying of lathis as well as imposing a curfew from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
