NOBEL NOMINATION

NOBEL NOMINATION: There are reasons that justify the nomination of Ahed Tamim for the next year’s Nobel prize. She was arrested from the Nabi Saleh village for speaking against Israeli aggression. She is a 22-year-old Palestinian activist who had confronted the Israeli army in the past as well. She has shown extraordinary courage at such a tender age during such a volatile situation. This would have a positive impact on all Palestinian children. Of course, the West will never even imagine making the nomination, and that in itself is a testimony to its biased attitude towards the conflict in the Middle East.

MUSLIM UNITY: All countries in the Muslim world should send their armed forces to help Palestinians, and Pakistan, having the best army among them all, should lead the effort. With this kind of united force, even the United States will have to revisit its strategy. It is futile to discuss any peace process anymore.

The occupation has to end. The European colonialists should be removed from the Middle East. All we need is unity.

GOING GREEN: There has been much talk about increasing the use of solar power in the country, but all that talk has remained just that; talk. Pakistan receives an average of 3,094 hours of sunlight per year. It makes the country ideal for photovoltaic generation. We should move actively towards solar energy, which also happens to be a critical component of the green energy package.

BUS FARES: Whenever petroleum prices go up, the transporters are quick to increase the bus fares, but when they are reduced, they do not bring the fares down, and keep charging the same high fares from all the passengers. Will some government department look into the matter and provide some relief to the general public?
