K3 project

SOME social media posts have been making the rounds these days, highlighting alleged corruption by some union council (UC) officials in the Old Golimar area. The posts appear to have some credibility because of budget allocations for the Golimar K3 water project, which has for long been overshadowed by corruption and embezzlement. While corruption has continued unabated, people of the area have continued to suffer from a chronic water shortage.

The locals have time and time again registered complaints, held demons-trations and submitted petitions to the offices of area deputy commissioner, provincial governor and other relevant officials, but to no avail.

The Old Golimar area, which has been deprived of basic necessities for the last 30 years, had been hoping to get some relief in the water supply situation in the wake of the K3 project, but even that seems to have fallen prey to some kind of political gimmickry.

The relevant government agency should expedite the work, which will be a great service to the area and its residents.
