Shangla court declares former provincial minister absconder

SHANGLA: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf provincial senior vice president and former minister Shaukat Yousafzai was declared absconder by a local court here on Monday in a case registered against him last month for violating Section-144.

The order issued by Senior Civil Judge Naved Ahmad, declaring Mr Yousafzai an absconder, was displayed on a wall outside court in Alpuri. The order says that Shaukat Yousafzai, a resident of Bisham, has been declared absconder as he is evading the court in a case registered against him at Karora police station under Section-109 of CrPC.

The order says that the PTI leader was wanted by police but he has been evading arrest. It adds that he has been declared a proclaimed offender and should be produced before the court within a month.

Mr Yousafzai was nominated in the same FIR registered on November 21 against his brother and PTI district president Liaquat Yousafzai and others for going to attend a meeting of party at the residence of Alpuri tehsil chairman Waqar Ahmad Khan.

Police said that the former minister was nominated in the FIR after three days of its registration. Police conducted raids on his residences in Bisham and Peshawar but could not arrest him.

Liaquat Ali Yousafzai told this scribe that his elder brother was in Peshawar the day when they were arrested. “Caretaker government is trying to keep us away from election campaign,” he alleged.

Shaukat Yousafzai was offloaded from a Saudi Arabia-bound flight before registration of FIR against him.

ACCIDENT: Eight persons including a child were injured when a motorcar fell into a ravine on Khattak Sar road on Monday.

The injured were shifted to tehsil headquarters hospital in Bisham for treatment. Two of them were shifted to Swat due to their critical condition.

Meanwhile, the officials of federal ombudsman office said here on Monday that any complaint registered against a government department would be addressed on priority basis.

They were speaking at a khuli kutchery held at Pesco office in Alpuri. The regional head of ombudsman office, Khwaja Saifur Rehman, Pesco SDO Salahuddin and others were present on the occasion.
