Siraj rules out electoral alliance with any political party

PESHAWAR: Jamaat-i-Islami emir Sirajul Haq has ruled out possibility of forming electoral alliance with any political party for upcoming general polls to be held on February 8.

He said that JI could not make alliance with those, who had destroyed the national institutions.

He said that the three political parties were groomed in military nurseries and wasted 40 years of nation.

According to a statement, he was addressing a convention of his party’s candidates for national and provincial assemblies here on Monday.

JI names candidates for national and provincial assembly seats

Mr Siraj said that there was no other option left for the nation but to vote for JI. He said that after forming its government, JI would implement uniform education system, award allowance to unemployed youth, give old age allowance to senior citizens, end VIP culture and spend money of people on their welfare.

He said that JI would bring agricultural and industrial revolution in the country and would distribute agricultural land among youth. He added that February 8 would be the day for ending political smog.

Meanwhile, JI parliamentary board for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has announced names of its candidates for national and provincial assembly seats for the upcoming general elections.

A statement issued here on Monday said that the names of candidates were announced by JI provincial general secretary Abdul Wasay during the convention in the provincial capital.

It said that JI emir Sirajul Haq would contest National Assembly seat NA-7 in Dir Lower and JI provincial emir Prof Ibrahim Khan would contest for NA-39 Bannu. Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali will be contesting for NA-1 Chitral.

The statement mentioned the names of candidates for 28 national and 84 provincial assembly seats.

Former speaker of provincial assembly Bakht Jahan Khan would contest for NA-10 Boner and Shah Faisal Afridi will contest for NA-27 Khyber. Former minister Hafiz Hashmat will contest for NA-28 Peshawar-1.

Similarly, former minister Inayatullah Khan will contest for PK-13 Dir Upper-3 and Sabir Hussain Awan will contest for PK-75 Peshawar-4.

When contacted, Wasay said that initially the parliamentary board approved names of its candidates for 26 National Assembly seats and 77 provincial assembly seats.

However, he said that another meeting of another parliamentary board was also held and names of candidates for the remaining seats would be announced in a week.
