Motorway police officials suspended for corruption
RAWALPINDI: Following complaints about corruption in South Zone of the National Highways and Motorways Police, some of their personnel have been suspended after investigation proved them guilty.
A spokesman for the motorway police said the National Highways and Motorway Police were corruption-free organisation.
The motorway police have an integrated system of accountability and vigilance under which there was no room for any kind of malfeasance and corruption in the institution.
He said that the motorway police had received some complaints regarding corruption in some areas of South Zone. The special vigilance cell of the motorway police took immediate action and submitted a report to Inspector General Sultan Ali Khawaja, who formed a high-level investigation committee headed by the Additional IG, including senior DIGs and other senior officers.
All the elements found involved in corruption will be punished and will be brought to justice, he said.
Inspector General Sultan Ali Khawaja has reiterated his determination that there is no room for such corrupt elements in a prestigious institution like the motorway police.
National Highways and Motorway Police is taking all possible measures to ensure safe and comfortable travel of citizens on motorways and highways. Safety of life and property of citizens while traveling is the top priority of Motorway Police, the IGP said.
