Explanation sought from medics for shutting down OPD

SWABI: The management of Bacha Khan Medical College has sought explanation from 11 doctors and nine paramedical staffers for halting healthcare services and closure of outdoor patients (OPD).

The doctors and staffers had staged a protest recently over delay of their monthly salaries.

According to an explanation letter issued to the medics, the management has taken serious cognizance of the suspension of OPD services and running a campaign against the management of Medical Teaching Institution-Gajju Khan Medical College/BachaKhan Medical College and allied hospitals on social media platforms.

The letter stated that their matter was taken to the authorities concerned, yet they were hampering the routine function of the hospital. They were directed to explain their position within three days.

The doctors who are issued notices include project management officer Dr Zafar Ali, medical officers Dr Mohsin Ihsan, Dr Ubaidullah Asad, Dr Syed Mohammad Idrees, Dr Adnan, Dr Mohammad Humayun, Dr Zubair Ahmad, Dr Mohammad Ghufran, dental surgeon Dr Atif Zaman and medical officers Dr Seema Saeed and Dr Saba Gul.

When contacted, the office-bearers of paramedical staff association said that staging protest was their constitutional right and they could not be browbeaten with such tactics.

FOUR INJURED: Four people were injured as a result of a collision between two motorcycles on Swabi-Mardan road at Gohati bus stop, said rescue 1122 officials. On receiving the information from the rescue control room, the emergency medical team along with the ambulance rushed to the accident site.

The injured were identified as Junaid Khan,32, Shaukat Khan, 38, Babar Khan, 19, and Ayaz Khan, 18. After providing them fisrt aid, the injured were shifted to district headquarters hospital Swabi.
