From The Past Pages Of Dawn: 1973: Fifty Years Ago: Press Commission set up
RAWALPINDI: The Federal Government today [Dec 7] announced the terms of reference and composition of a Press Commission designed to improve the working of the various sections of the information media including Television, Radio and newspapers. A comprehensive review of the matters relating to these media was conducted at a special meeting here today which was presided over by the Prime Minister, Mr Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. An official handout said that a number of proposals designed to improve the working of the various sections of the information media were considered at this meeting. — News agencies
[Meanwhile, as reported by news agencies from Islamabad,] Maulana Kausar Niazi, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Auqaf and Haj told the Senate ... that the creation of a full-fledged Ministry for Islamic Affairs was under consideration of Prime Minister Bhutto and it would be set up at an appropriate time. … Maulana Kausar Niazi said the Islamic provision had been incorporated in the Constitution not for show only, as had been the practice during the period of “so-called Islam-pasands” who had been issuing Fatwas of ‘Kufr’ against others.
