45 illegal Afghans recovered from kiln in Sialkot
NAROWAL: Sialkot police claimed on Monday to have arrested 45 illegal Afghan residents.
Sialkot District Police Officer Mohammad Hasan Iqbal told Dawn the police received information that Afghan nationals are living illegally near Tehsil Pasrur.
He said Pasrur Saddar police immediately raided a brick kiln in the neighbouring village of Bin Bajwa and took into custody 45 Afghan citizens, including men, women and children.
He said police arrested and registered a first information report against kiln owner Muhammad Arshad Padyar for giving illegal shelter to foreign nationals.
According to sources, the police have shifted the Afghan residents to the refugee camp at hockey stadium in Sialkot.
BODY RECOVERED: The body of a five-year-old child, who went missing 22 days ago in Shakargarh, was recovered from a pond.
Muaz Khan, son of Muhammad Kashif Khan, a resident of Khalilpur village, went missing while playing outside the house on Nov 19. The Shah Gharib police had registered a case on the complaint of Kashif.
On Monday, the body of the minor was spotted in the pond of the village.
Rescue 1122 team recovered the body and handed it over to the local police.
Police shifted the body to Shakargarh THQ Hospital for autopsy.
