Inquiry recommends action against six Shakargarh doctors
NAROWAL: An inquiry committee has recommended legal action against three gynaecologists and as many women medical officers of the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Shakargarh, under the PEEDA Act 2006.
The inquiry was ordered by DC Syed Hasan Raza after a complaint that patient Shamaila Tariq of Chakri village, was not handled properly which caused the death of the unborn in the mother’s womb.
Dr. Naveed Haider, Chief Executive Officer of the District Health Authority, Narowal, formed a three-member inquiry committee. It comprised District Health Officer Dr. Mohammad Tariq, gynaecologist Dr Uzma Malik and Dr. Muhammad Asif, Deputy District Health Officer, Zafarwal.
The committee concluded that Shamaila Tariq was not provided with treatment as per SOPs and recommended departmental action against the head of the department Dr Jawaria, gynaecologists Tabsum Rashid and Zebun Nisa, women medical officers Dr. Maria, Dr. Nimra and Dr. Amara Yusuf.
The inquiry committee recommended action against the under the PEEDA Act.
Dr Naveed Haider, DHA CEO said the inquiry report has been sent to the health secretary.
According to the report, hospital staff kept asking the poor patient to undergo a surgery at a private hospital. The child died in the mother’s womb on Nov 27 due to the incompetence of the women medical officers and gynaecologists.
