Two die, 16 injured in fog-related accidents

TOBA TEK SINGH: Two persons died and 16 people were injured critically in separate road accidents caused by heavy fog on Thursday morning.

The heaviest toll was reported after a collision among car, a bus and a van near Garh Fateh Shah on Faisalabad-Okara Road in tehsil Tandlianwala of district Faisalabad.

Rescue 1122 officials said the bus was going to Fort Abbas, the van was coming from Mamukanjan while the car was a part of the wedding procession that was going to Faisalabad from Chishtian.

Five of the injured were given first aid by rescuers on the spot while 10 of them who were critically injured were shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Tandlianwala.

They were identified as Maqsood (40), Shamim Bibi (50), Shabbir (32), Amin (25), Nadeem (40), Bilqees Bibi (23), Faisal (14), Younis (60), Mubarik (47) and Asad (22).

In another incident, a motorcyclist died while his pillion was injured in an accident near village Kharlan on Munday Syedwala Road in Athara Hazari tehsil of district Jhang.

Muhammad Yar (60) was travelling on a motorcycle when it fell after hitting something on the road due to fog. As a result, he died instantly. His pillion, Mureed Abbas (40), who was critically wounded, was shifted to Athara Hazari THQ Hospital.

In a third fog-related incident, a tractor-trolley collided with a road divider On Samundri-Rajana Road due to fog. As a result, the driver Abdul Rehman (45) died instantly.

In a separate incident, two motorcyclists died and their co-rider was injured after a bus hit their bike near Khurrianwala Chowk on the Sheikhupura Road in Faisalabad.

The deceased were identified as Umar Hayat (35) and Muhammad Ahmad (18).The critically wounded Sajid Ali (30) was referred by the Khurrianwala Rural Health Centre to the DHQ Hospital.
