Action against 90 for grabbing state land

SARGODHA: Action against 90 people in the Satellite Town area who had registered the state land in their name in connivance with the revenue officers and registry staff has been initiated.

According to details, the Block D area of Satellite Town along the railway tracks a piece of vacant state land was grabbed by the local land grabbers. The administration took action over illegal occupation against 90 residents and decided to retrieve the 44-foot road.

Municipal Corporation commissioner/administrator Muhammad Ajmal Bhatti assigned the enquiry to Additional Commissioner Revenue Saifullah Sajid who along with Sargodha AC Amina Ehsan, Bhalwal AC Sufyan bin Dilawar, Deputy Director Housing Tauseef Ahmad and Tariq Paroya of the municipal committee submit a report within three days for further action.

It may be recalled here that during the grand operation against the occupants of the state land in the Satellite Town and the surrounding area, the roadsides between D Block and the railway line were illegally grabbed by the residents. Each of them also transferred five to 14 marla land in their respective transfer letters. The residents took the stance that they had acquired the government land held by the housing and revenue departments in installments with no ownership.

BURNT: Three women were badly burnt in a gas cylinder blast in their house at Jora Kalan of Khushab.

As per the reports, the women were cooking meal in the kitchen when the gas cylinder blasted and fire engulfed the entire kitchen. Three women sustained burns. They were shifted to the DHQ Hospital Jauharabad where the condition of the two of them was said to be critical.

SMOG: Dense smog affected the road travel in the city and its suburbs on Friday, creating problems for the people.

The movement of passenger buses going out of the city was affected and schedule of people travelling outside the city was halted while the students faced difficulties in reaching their institutions. In order to avoid any road accident, the tractor-trolleys laden with sugarcane were stopped by the roadsides and directed to move after improvement of visibility.
