KOHAT: The tehsil municipal administration sealed a second wedding hall here the other day for operating without no-objection certificate.

Tehsil municipal officer Mohammad Shoaib said hundreds of wedding halls, markets and houses, whose owners had not paid fees for years, were causing colossal losses to the kitty.

A team led by TMA chief officer Vaqas Khan sealed the wedding hall located on the Rawalpindi Road. Earlier, a wedding hall was sealed on Monday.

Mr Vaqas said the wedding hall owners had given the buildings to the contractors, who were not interested in depositing the municipal and other taxes.

FAREWELL: Abasin Adbi Tolana, Kohat, arranged a farewell ceremony for Mohammad Sarwar Mehmood Khattak, a renowned Pashto poet, writer and outgoing deputy director information, Kohat.

Poet Mohammad Jan Atif presided over the ceremony, while newly-posted regional information officer, Kohat, Irshad Mohammad Afridi was the chief guest.

A poetry session was also organised, where the participants paid rich tribute to Sarwar Khattak for his literary efforts and services to Abasin Adbi Tolana.

The participants said Sarwar Khattak was of simple and good-natured personality. They said his book ‘Da Shahbaz Manzil’ was a reflection of his mission, which gave a positive message to the Pashtun nation and its youth.

On the occasion, Sarwar Khattak thanked the literary body for arranging the event in his honour.

MEETING: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl, in a bid to get the support of former lawmakers and elders for the NA-35 seat, approached former MPA Dr Iqbal Fana belonging to Jamaat-i-Islami in Lachi tehsil, requesting him to join the party.

The JUI-F delegation was led its candidate for the National Assembly seat, Seth Gohar Saifullah. Kohat city mayor Qari Sher Zaman and district emir Maulana Abdur Raheem were also part of the delegation.

Dr Iqbal Fana thanked the JUI-F delegation for reposing confidence in him and told them that he would make a final decision after consulting his party members, the voters, family elders and friends.
