Musharraf condemns killings in Karachi

ISLAMABAD, Oct 4: President Gen Pervez Musharraf has condemned the killing of five persons by unknown assailants at a place of worship in Karachi on Thursday.

The president said this was a cowardly attack on peaceful and innocent citizens.

He expressed his deep condolences and sympathy with the bereaved families and said it was an attempt to terrorise the peaceful citizens. These, he said were bound to fail miserably.

He said this was an attempt to create a state of uncertainty but it would never succeed.

He said these acts of terror were inspired by the elements inimical to Pakistan. Such acts, he said would never be able to dampen the resolve of the people of this country to stamp out terrorism from Pakistan and the world.

The president directed the Sindh government to carry out a thorough probe into this and other incidents of terror in the past. He said all efforts should be made to apprehend the culprits and award them exemplary punishment.—APP
