‘Smart classroom’ in Sahiwal college
SAHIWAL: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) launched its first smart classroom in the Government Graduate College (GGC), Sahiwal, the first in any public sector college the division, on Friday.
There are more than 29 public sector colleges for male and female students in the division.
As per sources sources, the HEC under CPEC projects funding spent Rs20 million on the establishment of a smart classroom on the college premises.
More than 100 educational institutions, mostly universities, have been connected online under the smart classroom initiatives, they added.
Earlier, a smart classroom was established on the local campus of Comsat University. The classroom is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and resources, allowing for the integration of advanced teaching approaches.
The smart classroom concept is a part of smart education strategy, involving introduction of modern teaching techniques, instead of the conventional ones, by using online information and communication technologies.
Under the initiative, WiFi coverage would also be provided to the whole campus.
College Principal Dr Mumtaz Ahgmed told Dawn that the smart classroom strategy is a learning initiative that assists both teachers and students to make information and communication technology (ICT) an integral part of education.
