Missing roundabout
THIS is with reference to the report ‘Expressway expansion likely to miss deadline’ (Dec 9). It is good to hear that the expansion of Islamabad Expressway from Korang interchange to Rawat is in the final stages of completion. However, one small irritant is quite worrisome, and a cause of inconvenience to the daily commuters from Korang, Pakistan Town, Police Foundation, Doctors Colony, Bahria Town, Media Town and PWD Colony who wish to use the expressway.
All the traffic from the societies that have been mentioned above gets stuck at the conflux of PWD Exit as one approaches the expressway. This is because the supposedly planned roundabout at this junction has still not been constructed.
As a result, the motorists, either coming from the right or the left, on the service road have to undertake a detour and a bumpy ride negotiating a turn and violating the median at this point, which, in turn, hampers the smooth flow of vehicular traffic. It is high time the Capital Development Authority (CDA) did something about this daily nuisance.
