Health experts to meet in Islamabad next month

ISLAMABAD: While health has become a global issue after Covid-19, the Ministry of National Health Services (NHS) will hold a Global Health Security Summit (GHSS) next month to device a strategy to deal with health related issues including manufacturing of raw material for medicines and production of vaccines.

The ministry has invited private and public sector firms from China, Iran, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and other countries to do collective efforts to get self-reliance in health sector.

In this regard a meeting, chaired by Federal Health Minister Dr Nadeem Jan, was held which was attended by Secretary Health Iftikhar Ali Shallwani, Director General Health Dr Mohammad Ahmed Kazi and others.

Dr Jan informed the meeting that the summit would be held on Jan 10 and 11, which and would be attended by top health experts from across the globe to discuss that how to deal with infectious diseases.

“The conference will portray the positive image of Pakistan. Protecting one country against diseases, will protect other countries as well,” he said.

During a recent visit to UAE, Dr Jan had a meeting with his UAEcounterpart and invited him to attend the summit.

He also briefed his counterpart on the ongoing reform agenda in the health sector of Pakistan.
