Junaid Khan appointed U-19 team bowling coach

LAHORE: Former Pakistan pacer Junaid Khan has been appointed as the national U-19 side’s bowling coach, the country’s cricket board announced on Sunday.

Junaid, brought in as the replacement of Rehan Riaz, will travel with the team to South Africa for the ICC U-19 World Cup, which starts January 19. Rehan, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said had “opted out of the ICC U19 World Cup due to a family emergency”.

Left-armer Junaid, a veteran of 22 Tests, 76 One-day Internationals and nine T20Is, last featured for Pakistan in May 2019.

The 34-year-old, with 189 international wickets to his name, then served as the head coach of Islamabad Region, leading the team to victory in the Hanif Mohammad Trophy and Hanif Mohammad Cup 2023-24.
