Ex-minister booked over firing during Lakki kabaddi match
LAKKI MARWAT: The police have registered a case against former provincial minister Dr Hisham Inamullah Khan, Marwat Bittanni Tehreek (MBT) chairman Inamullah Khan and their workers for resorting to firing in the air at a kabaddi match in Tarkihel area of Laki Marwat district.
Tajori police station SHO Anees Khan, who is the complainant in the FIR, said a villager, Amanullah along with four unknown companions had arranged a kabaddi match in the rural locality in violation of a ban imposed by the deputy commissioner.
He said Mr Hisham, who was the chief guest, attended the event along with a large number of workers and supporters.
SHO Anees said when MBT chairman Inamullah along with hundreds of workers also reached the venue, and brawl ensued between his and Hisham’s supporters, leading to firing in the air.
Besides, the former minister and MBT chairman, the police also booked the organisers of the match and hundreds of workers from both the sides under sections 324, 124A, 188, 148 and 149 of Pakistan Penal Code, the official said.
GAMBLERS ARRESTED: The police arrested four gamblers during a raid in Wanda Jogi area of Darra Pezu town on Monday.
An official said the raid was carried out when police were informed that some suspects were playing bet on birds’ fight in the rural locality.
He said the arrested men included Kifayatullah, Khaki Shah, Nawab Khan and Imran. The police also seized stake money, partridges and a pickup truck from them.
Shaheed Haibat Ali Khan police registered a case against them under relevant sections of law. Also, the same police seized a large quantity of non-custom paid goods from a passenger bus in Darra Pezu town on Monday, the official said.
He said on a tip-off, the cops intercepted a Quetta-Peshawar bound bus at Wanda Banochi checkpost on the Indus Highway. During search they recovered Iranian dairy products, floor tiles and spare parts of vehicles worth millions of rupees from the bus, he added.
The official said no one claimed the ownership of NCP goods.
Later, the seized goods were handed over to customs officials for further legal action.
In Bannu, the police arrested a suspect and seized a rifle and ammunition from him.
The command and control centre shared information about the presence of an armed suspect with police, an official said, adding a party of Saddar police station arrested the suspect when he was entering the bazaar.
