Insights into Pokemon’s unique spin-off
In a recent interview, Detective Pikachu Returns writer Hiroyuki Jinnai shared insights into the game’s unusual concept of a mystery-solving Pikachu. Despite spin-offs being considered ‘secondary’ to main pillars like games and anime, Jinnai hopes they have a positive impact.
Looking ahead, with recent releases like The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero expansion, the future of Pokemon games remains uncertain. While fans speculate about potential developments, including a remake or spin-off of Pokemon Black and White, or a sequel to Pokken Tournament, the platform for the next Pokemon game and its release date remain unknown.
Nintendo’s plans, including a rumoured new console in 2024, add further intrigue to the mystery of the next Pokemon game’s arrival.
Jack Black’s musical pitch for Super Mario sequel
If a sequel to The Super Mario Bros. movie ever gets a green light, Jack Black has quite the pitch ready: a musical centred on Bowser. In the 2023 animated film, Black voices Bowser, the villainous King of the Koopas, who rules the Dark Lands and concocts to take over the Mushroom Kingdom by marrying its ruler, Princess Peach.
Recently, Black opened up about his desire to reprise the role of Bowser. According to him, a sequel should take cues from an upcoming movie musical centred on a villain: Joker: Folie à Deux. Whether a sequel will ever come to fruition remains unknown to Black.
First glimpse at Marvel’s Madame Web’s suit
Dakota Johnson takes on the main billing in Madame Web amongst a cast full of heavy hitters as she embraces the superhero genre for the first time. She leads the first Sony Spider-Man Universe movie since the 2022 disaster Morbius.
While the costumes in this movie will have some slight differences from their Marvel Comics counterparts, Sony hopes to deliver its unique spin on these heroes for their first live-action appearances.
The poster revealed Johnson surrounded by webs as she showed off her character’s costume. This comes as a red matte-ish material with a webbing pattern embedded in the fabric, although not much of it can be seen on this poster.
This suit appears to be similar to Madame Web’s classic costume from the comics, paying homage to the design of her comic dress while bringing something new into the spotlight.
Madame Web will debut in theatres on February 14, 2024.
