RAWALPINDI: Rs410m TMA budget to be presented tomorrow
RAWALPINDI, Oct 16: A Rs410 million budget for the year 2001-02 of Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA), Rawalpindi, will be presented before the assembly on Thursday, Dawn has learnt through sources on Tuesday.
The sources said Rs297.1 million had been earmarked in the budget for various development projects and Rs92 million for non- development expenditures.
The tehsil administration expected to earn a revenue of Rs410.03 million, whereas the total expenses had been estimated to be in the range of Rs389.1 million, the sources added.
The budget would be a surplus one with Rs 211.9 million surplus amount, the sources said.
The tehsil administration expects to earn Rs24 million from auction of contracts and properties. Similarly, taxes will bring Rs18.36 million whereas the revenue expected from local services is Rs39.62 million. Building fees will accrue Rs32 million while fines and fees on various items is expected to bring Rs10million.
According to the budget, Rs232.5 million would be spent on the salaries of the tehsil employees, while Rs3.36 million have been allocated for other necessary expenditures. According to the sources, Rs4.5 million had been allocated for the purchase of fire-fighting vehicles.
The allocation for annual development programme has been increased from Rs7.34 million to Rs30.15 million this year.
The TMA is also planning to levy some new taxes to make up for the new expenses as a result of the merger of several departments in the tehsil administration and raise in pay scales of employees and other expenditures.
The new taxes are expected to accrue an additional amount of Rs20 million.
