PTI-P candidates in the run for 17 NA, 73 PA seats
PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf-Parliamentarians (PTI-P) on Thursday named its election candidates for 17 national and 73 provincial assembly seats in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The province has 45 general seats in the National Assembly, while the provincial assembly’s general seats total 115.
Noted among them are party chief and former provincial chief minister Pervez Khattak, his two sons and one son-in-law, former chief minister Mahmood Khan, and former provincial ministers Ziaullah Bangash and Mohibullah Khan.
Mr Khattak is contesting election in two PA and one NA constituencies of his native Nowshera district, while former chief minister Mahmood Khan will be a candidate for one NA and one PA seats from his native Swat district.
Mr Khattak will vie for NA-33 Nowshera and PK-87 and PK-88 seats in Nowshera and his son-in-law, Imran Khattak, for those of NA-34 and PK-89 in the district.
His sons, including Mohammad Ibrahim Khattak and Mohammad Ismail Khattak, are also in the running in PK-85 and PK 86 constituencies of Nowshera.
Former chief minister Mahmood Khan will contest election on NA-IV Swat-III and PK-10 Swat-VIII.
The PTI-P has awarded election tickets to former PTI MNA from Buner district Sher Akbar Khan for NA-10 Buner and former PTI MNA from Mansehra Saleh Mohammad for NA-14 Mansehra and NA-15 Mansehra-cum-Torghar. The party’s NA-3 Swat ticket has gone to former PTI worker Usman Ghani.
The PTI-P has fielded Mian Nazir Rehman in NA-11 Shangla, Mohammad Zeeshan in NA-9 Malakand, Shamraiz Khan in NA-16 Abbottabad, Falak Niaz NA-25 Charsadda, Arbab Mohammad Haleem in NA-30 Peshawar, Mohammad Saleem AKhtar Durrani in NA-31 Peshawar, Asiya Asad in NA-35 Kohat, Syed Qaiser Abbas Shah in NA-39 Bannu and Syed Mohammad Jawad Asghar Shah in NA-44 Dera Ismail Khan.
On the provincial assembly seats, the PTI-P has awarded election tickets to former MPA Haji Ghulam Mohammad in PK-1 Chitral, former Pakistan Peoples Party worker Shahzada Khalid Pervez in PK-2 Chitral-II and former PTI MPA and former minister Mohibullah Khan in PK-9 Swat-II.
In Lower Dir district, the party’s PK-16 ticket has been allotted to former finance minister Muzaffar Said, who first quit the Jamaat-i-Islami to join the Pakistan Peoples Party and later parted ways with the PPP to join the PTI-P.
The PTI-P has fielded Nadia Sher Khan, a former PTI MPA, in PK-30 Shangla-III, Mufti Obaidur Rehman in PK-33 Kolai-Palas and Syed Ahmed Hussain Shah, a former KP minister and two times MPA, in PK-36 Mansehra. Mr Shah joined the PTI after quitting the PPP but later joined the PTI-P.
It has awarded an election ticket to Saleh Mohammad, who parted ways with the PTI after May 9 violent protests, in PK-40 Mansehra. Mr Mohammad won the NA-13 Mansehra as an independent candidate in 2018 elections and joined the PTI.
The PTI-P has nominated former PTI MPA Arbab Mohammad Waseem for PK-73 Peshawar, Dilroz Khan, a close associate of Mr Khattak during his chief minister’s days in the province, for PK-79 Peshawar VIII, former PTI MPA and provincial minister Ziaullah Bangash for PK-92 Kohat-III and Ehtesham Javed for PK-111 Dera Ismail Khan.
