Security of Iranian installations enhanced
PESHAWAR: The security around Iranian installations in the provincial capital have been enhanced, police said here on Thursday.
They said the step was taken due to the possibility of holding of protest demonstrations following the tension between the two neighboring countries.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Town Nazish told Dawn there was no security threat but they were ready to control mobs if any protests took place, adding that the Iranian installations in the provincial capital were safe and secure.
“We have enhanced the number of police personnel at the Iranian Consulate and Iranian Cultural Centre,” Senior Superintendent of Police (operations) Kashif Aftab Abbasi told Dawn.
He stated that anti-riot police personnel were deployed in order to keep Iranian installations safe.
The security arrangements were enhanced after Iran on Tuesday night violated Pakistani airspace by firing missiles and carrying out drone strikes in Panjgur, Balochistan.
On Thursday, Pakistan retaliated by targeting hideouts of militant organisations inside Iran.
