Wonder Craft: Desk organiser

Desk organisers never go out of fashion, they are always needed, and so they come in variety of shapes and sizes according to the need of people. So with the start of the new term, why not make something unique and handy and bring order to your cluttered desk with pens, paper clips, colours and other small items?

Let’s show you how you can make a handy desktop organiser by transforming trash (empty cereal boxes) into an easy DIY organiser perfect for a clutter-free study table.

Things you need:

  1. Empty cereal boxes: 2 (preferably large size)

  2. More boxes of different sizes (optional)

  3. Scissors

  4. White glue

  5. Scotch tape

  6. Glue stick

  7. Coloured papers: two

  8. Patterned paper: one

  9. Ruler and a marker

Directions:

  1. Place both cereal boxes flat on any straight surface and mark a point 3 inches from the left side, as shown in picture 2.

  2. Draw a diagonal line, leaving a 2.5-inch space from the bottom, and carefully cut along the marked line on both boxes; see pictures 3 and 4.

  3. Join the two boxes either with white glue or use scotch tape, picture 5.

  4. Paste the coloured paper inside the boxes, pictures 6 and 7.

  5. It’s time to neatly wrap and paste patterned paper on the cereal box organiser, pictures 8 and 9.

  6. Our organiser is ready! But if you have more empty boxes such as those from biscuits or wafers, consider cutting them to create small tray and a pen holder. Then attach these components to the cereal boxes and cover them with patterned paper, similar to the example provided.

  7. This organiser serves the purpose of putting small stuff in small tray, pens and colours in pen holder and paper stuff in the file sections. Isn’t it amazing?
