CITIZEN’S PORTAL

CITIZEN’S PORTAL: The Pakistan Citizen’s Portal is not working properly and people are struggling to lodge their complaints. It was the only way out for the people to at least have some hope of getting some relief without official hindrances getting in their way. The portal should be restored so that the people may again benefit from this easy-to-use platform.

CHALLAN SPREE: It appears that officials of the Sindh traffic police are in a race among themselves to see who issues the highest number of challans on the roads. Instead of improving the flow of traffic, constables standing in groups remain sharply focussed on stopping vehicles randomly and creating bottlenecks during rush hours. This practice has to stop as it is creating a lot of inconvenience to the road users.

UNCONTROLLED MACHINES: Elon Musk once said that artificial intelligence (AI) is far more dangerous than even the nuclear weapons. True. According to a recent report, a worker in a Tesla factory was severely injured by a robot. The robot pinned him against a surface and pushed its claws into his body, leaving him seriously injured. Has the time arrived when machines will overpower the humans?

FAKE PROMISES: With elections in the air, politicians of all shades and hues are approaching people, asking for their vote. This is the time when they go above and beyond to make people believe that they will provide them a better future in terms of jobs, education and health. As puppets, we, the people, fall for their fake promises. When these politicians come to ask for vote this time around, we need to ask them important questions, such as what is their understanding of Pakistan’s debt issue, and what do they have in mind with respect to policies and steps to address such challenges.
