SKARDU: Flood-hit villages to get relief

SKARDU, Feb 28: Commander Siachen Brigade Brig Ahmad Nawaz on Tuesday visited the flood-affected villages of Gwari and Kuru in Ghangche district and inspected the affected areas.

These villages were washed away last year by flooding in the Sheeke river. The federal government is ready to construct a protective wall through the Federal Flood Commission in Islamabad.

The commander said that water course of the river would be cleaned for easy passage before summer and the villages would be protected from harm.

He assured the flood victims that government would help them in all respects. The victims and the elected representatives of the villages presented their proposals regarding their rehabilitation and demanded compensation.—APP
