Lahore ATC sets aside order declaring Fawad proclaimed offender

LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court on Wednesday set aside a previous order to declare former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry a proclaimed offender (PO) in two May 9 cases related to burning the PML-N office and a container.

A lawyer argued on behalf of Mr Chaudhry that his client was declared PO in two cases for his non-appearance. He said the petitioner was detained in Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi, since Nov 4, 2023. The lawyer pointed out that a person under custody cannot be declared a PO.

He asked the court to cancel the impugned order passed in both cases against the petitioner.

Judge Naveed Iqbal allowed the petition and set aside the order to declare Fawad Chaudhry a PO in the cases.
